As intercontinental travel developed in the 1950’s the GMT Master was conceived and developed and introduced to the public in 1955 to meet the needs of pilots flying swiftly across several time-zones.The two-toned bezel which marked daytime and nighttime hours became its distinguishing feature. With the extra 24 hour hand rotating the bezel every 24 hours it was easy to keep track of home time while in the air to far reaching locales.
